JCHAI took part in a symposium held on December 19, 2004,
at Har Zion Synagogue in Penn Valley about resources for children with
special needs. The symposium was sponsored by Kehillat Lower Merion. The
Main Line Times, covering the event on December 30, 2004, listed
JCHAI as a resource and opportunity for Jewish children with special
needs:
Stacy Levitan represents J-Chai, a group
that has three group homes in the Philadelphia area, including one
in Wynnewood providing a kosher home environment for adults with
special needs.
JCHAI’s gala fundraiser was reported by
Pauline Pinard Bogaert in the Philadelphia Inquirer on November 17, 2004:
Jewish Community Homes for Adult Independence held its 18
th annual gala, called the Magic of Independence. Stacy Jarett Levitan
chaired the party for 270 guests at Green Valley Country Club in
Lafayette Hill.
J/CHAI, for short, has three residential homes and an apartment-living program
for people with developmental disabilities. The gala raised $200,000 to support
J/CHAI programs.
