JCHAI At Home: This program provides training and support services by primarily master’s degreed social workers who go out into the larger community and assist adults with disabilities with all activities necessary for members to live in their own residences or learn the skills necessary to transition out of living with their parents into their own residence. These skills include life skills such as banking, shopping, appropriate social behavior, personal maintenance, and vocational skills.
JCHAI Transitions: is for individuals aged 18 to 30 creates after-school and weekend programming to help develop social networks for the participants while teaching them all the skills necessary to transition to living and working in the community. The program bridges the gap between completion of high school and the start of living independently.
Apartment Program: JCHAI staff train and assist members who live in clustered apartments at the Radwyn Apartment complex in Bryn Mawr and almost all of whom work in the community. These JCHAI members often eat dinner together in small groups to encourage socialization and to give them opportunities to learn cooking skills. This program has no overnight supervision. These residents are taught all skills necessary to maintain their lives as independently as possible, including cooking, cleaning, shopping, banking, personal maintenance, appropriate social behavior, transportation training, and vocational skills. Many are also job coached by JCHAI.
