JCHAI services are open to individuals of all backgrounds and religions. Although non-sectarian, JCHAI does provide Jewish programming for our clients who want to take advantage of it. The group homes keep kosher and the apartment program is kosher-style.
JCHAI partners with area synagogues and other Jewish agencies to host programming for the holidays. JCHAI ensures that clients all have the opportunity to participate in High Holiday services and have seders to attend for Passover. JCHAI clients are also afforded the opportunity to participate in special programs in conjunction with Gratz College. Every Friday night, Shabbat is celebrated in the group homes and at the apartments, complete with Shabbat candle lighting, prayer rituals, and a special meal in honor of Shabbat. Within the JCHAI community, individuals are offered the opportunity to participate in culturally enriching activities to promote pride in their Jewish identity, according to their level of interest.
